Small Steps - What Can You Do

There are things that you can do in your everyday life to make small changes.

These small changes often make the largest difference in protecting our environment.

Try to put the following into practise in your everyday life:

  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - Make sustainable choices when purchasing products.

  • When walking in the area, take a bag with you to collect rubbish and dispose of it properly.

  • Be aware of your pets roaming - Keep dogs out of the estuary as they disturb our native birds.

  • Respect the dunes - New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world which has sand dunes. These unique coastal features are vital for protecting the land from storms and erosion, as well as providing crucial habitats for native plants and animals.
